Chapter Six

After he’d closed the door to Tommy’s room, Nicholas put his back to the wall then slid to the floor. Dear, sweet Beyoncé! He’d never been so horny in his entire life.

The worst thing was that there was nothing he could do about it. Sure, he could go into his room and try to take matters into his own hands. Pun intended. Somehow, he knew that wasn’t going to be enough. The only remedy for his ache was going to be his mate.

Since that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon, Nicholas went down to the kitchen. Maybe another dose of white chocolate would soothe him a bit. When he saw that Maddox was still in there, sitting as pretty as he pleased on one of the countertops, Nicholas let out a groan. Worse, Mick had joined him.

“You know, people put their food there. The last thing they want is your ass germs,” Nicholas said.

Mick gave a saucy smile. “Oh, I don’t know about that. Your brother seems to love my butt.”

Nicholas rolled his eyes. “Yet another thing that I can never un-hear. Why do you keep doing this shit to me? Do you have any idea how huge my therapy bill is?”

Before Mick could answer, Brian strolled in. Without pause he said, “By the way, Nicholas, you’re going to be Tommy’s guardian.”

Mick laughed before saying to Nicholas, “No, I have no idea what your therapy bill is. I do know that it’s about to get a lot bigger, though.”

Nicholas threw his hands into the air. “What the hell, Brian? You know how I feel about him! Why in the fuck would you have me be his guardian? Are you trying to torture me or something?”

“First of all, this is official business, so you shall address me as Your Highness,” Brian replied in a stony tone.

Oh, so this was how he wanted it to be. Nicholas’ head began to pound. How he hated it when Brian decided to get all official and formal. It was almost as if he’d forgotten that they’d grown up together. That it had been Nicholas who’d always taken the blame for Brian’s misdeeds. Nicholas wondered if his brother knew how many beatings Nicholas had taken in his stead.

Most likely not. Brian had always been off with special tutors and trainers, while Nicholas and Duncan had always been given second best. Not that Nicholas hated Brian or anything. He loved his brother. He would die to protect him.

It was just that Brian could be so damn pious and aggravating at times. It drove Nicholas batty. Yet so did all the others in their close circle of friends.

“Secondly,” Brian continued, “what question do you want me to answer first? You did just ask a whole slew of them.”

Nicholas pinched the bridge of his nose. “Just tell me why you want me to be Tommy’s guardian?”

“Other than the fact that I love to see you squirm?” Brian asked.

Oh, so now they were back to being informal. Sometimes, Nicholas felt as if he were a ball in a pinball game.
